Improving light extraction efficiency of OLEDs

This was my first research project, and I worked with PhD students to understand the problem and did multiple simulation experiments. The project aimed to improve the light extraction efficiency of OLEDs and was a collaboration between the Photonics lab (IIT Roorkee) and Moeser Baer company. Much light is lost when the generated light travels from the first layer to the final layer. To increase light transmission, I researched using silver nanoparticles. The key advantage of silver nanoparticles is that they absorb light and scatter light. I used Lumerical FDTD software to simulate the structure and environment and ran experiments to design the best possible structure to improve efficiency.
